Baby Tylenol Constipating

PSOE youth and politics. TONI MORILLAS. UNITED LEFT

TONI MORILLAS
Born in 1982, graduated in Communication Studies (University of Malaga), Expert Planning Participatory Process (Universidad Complutense de Madrid) and participatory methodologies. He is currently the coordinator of the Participatory Budget Office of the Provincial Council of Malaga and the Technical Secretariat of the National Network for Participatory Budgeting.
For those who do not know who is Toni Morillas? Why did you decide to enter politics?

I decided to enter politics when I was at the Institute, which coincided with the demonstrations against the hardening of the entrance exams to the University and from there were organized student assemblies and strikes. That was the turning point because politics is the art of detection that we have common problems and before they have to build common solutions and be aware of the injustices in the world.

Why did you choose exactly Izquierda Unida?
Because IU is the force that fights against injustice and raises an alternative to capitalist and patriarchal model which is the root of the inequalities that we live in the world.

takes little time in politics, what is what most surprised you?
What surprised me most is the degree of political disaffection that exists. With the times in which we live increasingly worse, there is less quality of life, more people with many difficulties to make ends meet or have fundamental rights as the right to adequate housing or decent work ... and it is precisely in this area where politics is more devalued and where there is more distrust toward everything happens in the political sphere.

And I think that is the main problem we have now, the fact that politics is not seen as a solution to the problems of citizenship, but citizenship is perceived as a problem.

I ask self-critical. Usually always listen to the political class doing a critique of the opposing parties, so I ask this time a self-criticism. What has your party done wrong? Regardless of the unfair electoral law at the national level, IU lost many seats. And in Manchester there was also a noticeable loss of votes.

There is a general tendency for political and ideological hegemony of liberalism is winning. The values \u200b\u200bto be imposed on society are precisely those that we promote, while we advocate for the collective, caring, sharing society ... in what we see is individualism, competitiveness and a strong social atomization.

I think this is the main problem of the United Left and the Left in Europe. Perhaps, what has failed us in a few moments to spend more time with the institution to work with people and that's what we're trying to turn around and I think we are getting a boost in recent years. The fact return to their roots: working with people from the problems of people and taking the institution as a tool for transformation.

may have been perceived to have thrown a lot of work on the institutional aspect and not as something to replace the work we do to build awareness and citizenship from the individual.

What offers to Malaga Malaga UI that makes it different from other political parties?

We built a political agenda in a participatory manner, with the public, setting up neighborhood workshops in the neighborhoods, meeting with countless groups in the city ... and that's a guarantee it is a program developed collectively and then , pose a real and serious alternative to the model is now in the city of Malaga, which is the model of speculation, the privatization of public services, job insecurity and propose alternatives in employment, to encourage public employment, fostering social and economic sustainable production model of the environment, promote a model of planning for human development and not as has been so far ... and I think that's the point, our goal is to create a model city where people can live and the city model that was promoted during the PP government has favored only a minority of citizens.

But nevertheless, despite what he says, the model of the PP continues to draw an absolute majority in Málaga
Our job is to reverse this situation.

What
UI makes it different from the other Left is PSOE?
What I am discussing. It is now clearer than ever. The PSOE has long departed from the approach of the left and left to raise an alternative to capitalism and to propose an alternative model of life that is unsustainable and perhaps in the latter term is more evident than ever.

The Socialist Party has promoted policies that raise the Popular Party had been a long time: the labor reform, pension reform, privatization of essential public services and strategic state, cases of corruption are dotting both the PP and the PSOE.

The Socialist Party in Spain today is a neoliberal party that if it is true that you have an image of the left and some issues relating to civil rights has some differences with the PP, but fundamentally, it is economic, coincides with right-wing policies that are occurring in the European Union. And now we are watching as the Socialist Party was setting behind the banners of no war and now being bombed Libya.

Nearly five million unemployed, corruption scandals in the major political parties ... But here nothing happens. Why the indifference of the English society? Why after falling to the election result will again give the victory to the PSOE or the PP? Why people do not trust third alternative?

is a very complex analysis. However, do not think there passivity of the population. The trade unions are mounting assemblies of unemployed people are organizing initiatives and proposals raised by proposing a crackdown on cutting rights are suffering.

Now, what is certain is that we would expect all the criticism was much stronger with which we are falling over. We have seen that in France there has been general strikes continued, mobilization of young people in Portugal, processes of political change is Iceland ... We are seeing movements of change, but what about Spain? I think the fact that there are five million unemployed in our country, is causing people are looking for staff leaving the crisis and that people are looking for the beans.

An unemployed person who fails to make ends meet or have a temporary job ... finally one is thinking about his personal leave to survive and not fight as collective exit strategy from the left there perhaps we need to put more meat on the grill, to raise the output to the crisis will not come for individual outputs and output if collective and structural changes in the system. And then, about the lack of other ways you mention, is a profoundly unfair electoral law which makes the people who vote for IU to feel that their vote is worth less ...

But despite this law, IU had more than 20 seats in Parliament

has been a historical process of loss of structure and political and ideological power within the left and it's stupid to deny it. But there are issues such as the bipartisan model accentuated in recent years and supported by the media in shaping public opinion. These media are businesses and influence the rest. In addition to the decay that has occurred within the left, although it seems that is now reversing

One of the groups with high abstention is the youth. You belong to that group why this is occurring away from the political class from the young? As a teacher I say that young people have many concerns. But can not find answers to these concerns in the political discourse.

The process of dislocation, individualism ... to what we have to add the process of distrust and the politicians of the major parties have a lot to see: corruption, perception that they are in politics to serve special interests and not interests groups ... all this creates an atmosphere of mistrust very high.

And apart from that, the model of representative democracy. We are saying that young people participate and if they do, but they do in other social spaces. For example in social networks which is constructed opinion. When we consider that non-participation of young people, we must see the model of participation is to vote every four years and give a blank check to the politician in office and also look like in the next four years the electoral programs are not met, making policy decisions that go against the social majorities are multitude of decisions that affect young people are not taken in the field of youth and if the politicians and economic lobbies. This process is normal skepticism of democracy and participation as a useful tool for transformation.

That may be the key: as we build deepening democratic processes to bring value young people and they can bring and their interest and also put on the interests and needs of young people ... they probably will go forward. But these are long-term processes. Note that in the CIS surveys, politics is the second issue of greatest concern, which is a sign that this political system is failing and if not changed because the process of creating going abstention.

Referring to abstain, what do we need to mobilize the votes of the left?

The abstention is due to a lack of confidence in the democratic system which is also fully justified and because people do not understand just what it is worth voting. Besides, a number of structural conditions that make people not participate. If you have a 10-hour, also when you get you have to take care of your children ... there are real difficulties to find time to participate.

There are two tools against abstention. One, to explain to people that voting is useful today (other things is another model of participatory democracy) is the mechanism through which participation can transform the policies being promoted. Voting is useful to influence the social policies changed in the interest of the social majorities. On the other hand, since the municipal policy be promoted participatory democratic processes that will return the sovereignty to the people and to do that again regaining the confidence of the people.

political indifference Is an act of intelligence?

I believe that this will lead to paralysis and doing nothing, being a very convenient approach. In the broad concept of politics and the affairs of the ordinary, if you want to change the world you have to intervene and to remain indifferent to the approach that what you do not like, is to let others decide for you.

Many will blame you his youth and inexperience in the political section. What would you say?

I have 28 years, I've been involved in politics since high school. With 18 years was cloistered at the University of Manchester ... participating in the feminist movement, joining the Young Communist League, general secretary of the Communist Youth of Andalusia, joining the United Left ...

Regardless, the only thing I'm looking for is put at the service of the United Left and the city. In addition, the youth perspective is to be incorporated into policy and that perspective has to be in the city of Manchester because we come from other backgrounds and have other views and other experiences and I more than a problem, I see it as a value. It is necessary that young people are in politics to make Malaga belt of perspective and ways of thinking about politics that are different.

Certain characters throughout history have distorted the concept of communism that Marx was born. What is for you today to be a Communist?
For me being a communist is to fight against injustice, against capitalism and patriarchy and have the look clean and responsive to the most disadvantaged in the world. That's a communist.
